Look for properly installed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; you should have a functioning smoke detector in every sleeping room, outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms (i.e. hallway) and on each story of a multi-level home, including basements.Carbon Monoxide detectors are invaluable and especially important in areas with fuel burning appliances or if you operator a generator or other similar equipment near the home.
